One for You & One for Me

This is how we have to cook around our house. One for him (meat) and one for me (non-meat). Mine is the smaller of the two of course : )
Before we rarely actually sat down and ate together because he would make one thing and I would make another. Lately, however, we have actually been eating the same things because we haven't had a lot of meat in the house. With this last trip to the grocery store he changed that and bought all kinds of meat to make chili. He started making chili and it smelled really good, so before he added the meat I asked if I could put some in a lil crock pot for me.

His

Mine

what a bargain!

I got all this fabric the other day, plus a really cute pillowcase for a pillowcase tote, for only $19!!! There is TONS of the brown, white and green one and tons of the blue one!!! The top one is my favorite one : ) I think I might make a purse out of it...like just a mini version of the pillowcase tote and add a little pocket in the inside. If I do make a purse with it hopefully I will be able to convince Vic to use her snap press and throw a snap on it for me : ) That way it'll have a little bit of a way to close and keep things in.

What to be? What to be?

My favorite holiday is Halloween! I love finding a fun costume, dressing up and going out. I'm trying to figure out what we should be this year...I know it sounds really early to think about it, but I want to actually get my costume more than a few days before this time!

Year before last year I was a beer girl and I made Bob a costume to look like a glass of beer. Beer is our favorite drink, so it was the perfect idea! I ordered my costume like a week before and received it the day before Halloween. I was super excited when it FINALLY came, only to open it and find out THEY SENT THE WRONG ONE!!! Luckily, the one they had sent was a "Gretchen" costume (pretty much like a beer girl, just not the one I wanted) so I could still wear it and it worked out.

Last year Bob was a jailbird and I was a corrupt cop "Ivana Bribe" : ) Unfortunately, the only picture I can find of last year was this horrible one of me and Carol...no Bob : (

So this year I'm not sure what the heck to be...pirates?? hippies?? gangstas?? 50's couple?? cowboy & cowgirl?? I don't know what we're going to do yet...but I'll letcha know once I find something that I feel like I just HAVE to do.

6-10 of 103 Randoms About Me

10. I purchased my first car December 31, 2007 and totaled it on March 12, 2008. (before then I had a car that was given to me) Yep, that's right, I owned that car for all of 2 months and 12 days! It was my favorite car too :( A 1998 green Ford Contour with a manual transmission. It had a sunroof, I loved that sunroof. Man, do I miss that car...

9. I had a few hamsters as pets when I was a teen. One of which got loose in our house numerous times. We had to put holes in the walls to get him out of the walls. The last time he got loose, we never found him...

8. As a kid I didn't know the lines in the middle of the road actually meant something. I just assumed they were all supposed to be solid double lines and thought they made them dashed because they were running out of paint.

7. I have a crazy fear of wood ticks. If anyone finds one when I'm around I will have the creepy crawlies for the rest of the time I am there and will not be able to be comfortable.

6. I sleep with a fan on in my room almost every night. Even in the winter! I am like a furnace when I'm sleeping. Poor Bob wants to cuddle with me some nights and I just can't do it because I die of heat! So then he freezes at night sometimes because I have the fan on.

New patch

I was going to put this on a produce bag originally, but a girl I know wants one sorta like this on a tote. I think I'm going to put this on a tote for her :) If she likes the colors that is...

So pretty

These are in my backyard! Aren't they gorgeous?!

Some day...

...Bob and I will get a dog! He's lovin' having Joey here. He's so cute with him. Always playing and rough housing (as much as you can with a lil guy like Joey.)

Trying something new.

I thought maybe it would be kinda fun to start a new set of posts titled "103 Randoms About Me" Just so that I share little things about me with you. Some things you may already know if you know me and some things you may not know : ) We'll see if I can even get to 103 things!

'1-5 of 103 Randoms About Me'

5. I have had my nose pierced two times. The first time I had it done it was on the right side. When I had my wisdom teeth removed I had to take it out and it closed up...I cried! (the drugs they gave me may have had something to do with that too) Now its on my left side.

4. When I was a child I called Band-Aids rubber Band-Aids.

3. I secretly (not so secretly now!) feel better than other people when I am using reusable bags and they're using plastic. Sounds horrible to say it out loud, but I'm just being truthful : )

2. I am very easily annoyed with sounds. Example: people eating, breathing, chewing gum. I find myself literally trying to plug my ear that is near someone who is annoying me. I'll pretend I am resting my head on my hand or something to cover my ear.

1. I am OBSESSED with the color of my teeth. I am paranoid that I have nasty yellow teeth all the time. I am constantly checking my teeth in the mirror and feeling like they should be more white.

Dognapped!

I kidnapped my 'rents little dog for a few days. Isn't he the cutest?! Maybe not at the moment. He's in DESPERATE need of a bath, haha.

My stamp came!

I ordered a stamp for my produce bags, well, for the tags for them. It finally came yesterday!

It says:
Productive Produce
by Lacy Holly
Reusable Produce Bags

This is what's on the front of the tags...

(the photo is a little blurry, but you get the idea)

Rain, Rain...

Go Away!!! Come Again Another Day!!!

No, actually I enjoy rain. I love to fall asleep with the window open and listen to the rain and unfortunately, traffic too : ( I hope if it rains all day that it at least rains tonight too so I can listen to it : ) A big thunderstorm would be kinda cool too.

How cute is this?!

My most recent produce bag I LOVE IT! This one is FOR SURE one for us to use...probably me because of it's girly nature ; )

The brown is actually darker, more like this close up.

I am going to find a cute pink or orange ribbon to use for the pull string!

Soup on a chilly day

I was craving a little soup today since it's a dreary, rainy day. I just used whatever I had in the house...a little veggie stock that I added some water to. Then boiled some carrots, onion, garlic, parsley (from our window box!) and some seasonings to add some more flavor : ) Once that was done I strained it and then made soup with onion, carrot, potato, parsley, a little kale (from our 'garden'!) and some noodles. It turned out pretty tasty.

WoW...

I'm beginning to realize that WoW (World of Warcraft, a stupid computer game) will be the center of many a fights with Bob and I.

Bob's daily routine:
Wake up, brush teeth, play WoW, go to work, come home, shower, play WoW, go to bed...Wake up, brush teeth, play WoW, go to work, come home, shower, play WoW, go to bed...you get the picture...

The last time he did something sweet for me...I can't even remember, maybe a month or so ago when he brought me home some food from work???

It's getting old quick : (

Finally!

I finally got to use my produce bags for the first time! : ) I need to make myself a few more tho, because I only had 2 to use and I needed like 2 or 3 more...

*Shout out*

Vic makes amazingly adorable cloth diapers...

She's got her own website!

http://hyenacart.com/victorybaby/ Check it out!

Website you should check out : )

Vic introduced me to this website...it's great! You should check it out : )

Lots of great tips for being more green!

Milk jug slow drip water thing

We have a bad habit of not watering our veggies...online I saw an idea for using a milk jug to slow water your plants : ) So I made one today! So simple...

Simply poke a few holes in the side of the milk jug and fill with water. The tighter you put the lid on, the slower it will 'water' your plants.

Then place near plants! ...See, SO EASY!

I looks like we're growing a milk jug! : ) I hope this will help our kale flourish, that's the one I really want to do well...

Minty Iced Tea

When Bob and I were at his brother's house yesterday, his sister-in-law had made a minty iced tea...it was delicious! So I thought I'd give it a try tonight...

First I had to make a simple syrup with mint in it.

Boiling the sugar, water and mint leaves

Straining the mint leaves out of the mixture : )

The final simple syrup with mint

(we use a darker colored sugar so it's not clear)

All that was left to do was mix it in with some iced tea! Yummy!
(not all of it of course, this amount will make a lot of minty iced tea)

A day with Bob's mom

Bob's mom, Brenda, came to spend the day with us today. It was good times. We went down to Lake Superior and walked along the shore. We found a bunch of cool rocks...Brenda is big into rocks for turning into art and Bob is into finding some for his aquariums.

After the rock search we ran to the bread store. Bob and I were introduced to the most amazing bread ever!!! 'Popeye' Bread. It's spinach, onion, red pepper and parmesean cheese. SO GOOD!!! Brenda is so sweet! She bought us TWO loaves of 'Popeye' bread and shared half a loaf of Cinnamon Chip bread with us...she also bought us delicious Oatmeal Cookies! She's the best! : )

After the bread experience (which we need to call it an experience because the bread was so amazing!) we went to the Grill for dinner. We had the Buffalo Tofu Strips for an app...amazing as always. Bob tried a chicken and avacado sandwich...the sprouts they put on it took the sandwich over and he said you could barely taste the avacado. Brenda tried the Spicy Thai Pasta...it was really spicy I guess! I ordered the Buffalo Tofu Melt...it was way more gooey than normal, it was still good tho!

After dinner we went to the liquor store and built our own 6-packs. Brenda went home with two 6-packs and Bob and I went home with one 6-pack and a case of Miller Lite : )

Now Bob and I are just hanging out relaxing...I am exhausted again today. All the time in the sun and walking on the sand and rocks and such just wore me out! I was tired even before all that. If it weren't already 8pm I would take a nap! We thought about going to a movie tonight, but I don't think that'll happen.

Consignment

I approached the Co-op in my home town today with my reusable produce bags. They are keeping the three bags that I brought with me on consignment to see how they go! I am excited to see how they go...altho I gave her really low prices : ( I wish I would have gone a little higher...owell!

I am EXHAUSTED! 4 hours sleep + Lacy = NOT ENOUGH I'll write more tomorrow : )

To Do:

Next on the to do list:

Pinning = Evil!

The worst part of sewing!!!

in need of motivation

I have to get 12-15 produce bags done by tomorrow, I have three sewn so far...I have lost all my motivation : ( I need something to motivate me!!! I think I better try some different music...the radio just isn't cutting it for me anymore. When Bob leaves I know it'll help that I'll be able to just blast the music, that's always good motivation for me.

AMAZING!

Enough fabric for 6 produce bags perfectly cut in two minutes! Thank God for rotary cutters!

New!

My new best friend! I have a horrible time cutting a straight line with scissors. I bought a rotary cutter today : )

Mmmm...Dinner!

Dinner was amazing! Melted a little cheese on top and then threw it in a tortilla shell :)

*Red, yellow, orange and green pepper, tomato, jalapeno slices, scrambled egg, and broccoli*

I've decided to sell them...

I'm attempting to selling the produce bags and possibly totes : ) I've already received my first order for 8 produce bags!
