love.

This is one of my favorite pictures.

I was snuggled up on the couch, enjoying some coffee and a good book and Gidgey decided to come read with me...she rarely sits with me, so this was a special treat : )

MIA...

I've been MIA for a long time now...wow, almost all of April and ALL of May! Sadly, I have no excuse...I have just been doing the same old thing. Just working and doing things around the house --okay, sort of doing things around the house.

A few weeks ago I made a big purchase, well, to me it was a big purchase. I don't know about you, but I have a hard time spending a lot of money on myself all at once. $20 here and $15 there is one thing, but for me to go out and spend $300 on myself at once is crazy!

Anywho, I bought myself the most amazing thing ever...

a NookColor!!!
I love, love, love it!!!

Since I bought it just over two weeks ago, I have read 6 books...and I'm currently in the middle of reading two more! It is so great! I never even turn the tv on at home anymore. The only time the tv comes on when I'm home, is if my tv addict of a boyfriend is home too : )

Two books that I would suggest to everyone would be:
Homer's Odyssey: A fearless Feline Tale, or How I Learned About Love and Life with a Blind Wonder Cat.

and

Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who touched the World

...I know, I know, it appears that I am just some crazy cat lady (not saying I'm not just a little), but they really are good books! It is just amazing how animals can touch the hearts of millions and probably not even realize it.

Day 19...Hahaha

Bob put the empty beer can on her head one night and she just left it there!
So, of course, Bob had to imitate her...

SHE'S HOME!

Our new little girl is finally home!

Like I said before we had to patiently wait a few days to bring her home.
She was getting spayed on Monday, that's why we couldn't take her home right away on Friday when I fell in love with her.
I brought her home on Tuesday afternoon.
Her name is Ghita.
Isn't she beautiful...

Do you know how hard it is to get a 12 week old kitten to sit still for a photoshoot?!
So, they're not amazing pictures. They show you her adorableness all the same!

She seems to be doing well in her new home with her new siblings.
Gidget (the one who doesn't like people) and her are already playing and getting along well. Growling/hissing are minimal and only happen when the Ghita gets a little too excited attacking Gidgey when she's not feeling playful.

Ginger (the lover of everyone) on the other hand is not taking the addition of a new sibling so well. She's growling at every glance and hissing any time she's within a few feet. We're not too worried though, because she acted this same way when we brought her home and she met Gidget. It took a little while, but Ginger and Gidget get along wonderfully now! Cuddling, playing and grooming each other like best buddies.

Patiently Waiting.

Okay.
Okay.
I lied.
I'm not-so-patiently waiting for Tuesday to get here.
Because when it does...

This little beauty gets to come home with us!!!
She is waiting at the animal shelter to be spayed on Monday.
Then come home to her new family on Tuesday!

Cuddlebugs.

I was just looking through my phone, found this and just had to share.

It makes Gidget look like a giant, haha!

*WARNING* This post is not pretty...

The new apartment has paneling

E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E

(ugh!)

So this post is not a pretty post...
you've been warned!

Our bedroom doesn't have a real built in closet.
What they did was build one out of wood and attached it to the wall.

The cats like to sleep on top of the 'closet'.
This is totally fine, except the only way they can get down is to jump onto the bed where Bob's face is when he's sleeping!

We built a shelf to go from the top of the 'closet' with steps attached that lead to the top of the ugly dresser! (Which is on the to-do list of things to repaint.)

The shelf and steps will be getting a nice paint job at the same time that we paint right over the ugly paneling!
Once that finally happens I will post more photos to show the update : )

This is VERY late...

This post is extremely late, but...

WE GOT A SECOND KITTY!!!

This beautiful little girl's name is Ginger

(they had actually named her Candi at the shelter we got her at)

Shelter sounds like such a horrible word...it just makes me think of animals no one wants and that there is something wrong with them : ( That is SOOO not the case of what it really is though, thank goodness! It is just a place where wonderful pets live just waiting for the perfect family to come pick them up!

I just heart her so much! I find it absolutely amazing how a pet can come into your life and in just that split second you begin to love and adore them so much! Now that she is here, I can't imagine what it was like without her...

She actually joined our family a few months ago. She was part of a group of kitties who were found in a combination of two homes with 70+ cats. My friend Vic saw an article in the newspaper about the cats and saved it for me. She knew that it was something I would want to see, well, not want to see, but you know what I mean. I read the article and immediately knew I wanted to go there and look for a buddy for Gidgey.

Bob and I had talked before about how we knew we wanted to get a buddy for Gidgey...this was the PERFECT opportunity! I showed the article to Bob and he agreed to go and just look at the kitties.

We head to the shelter (again with the icky word) and even in the car talking about how we're just going to see the animals and we'll talk more about getting a second one.

The first kitty I see in the first room we go into was Ginger...from then on, my heart belonged to her. I couldn't stop thinking about her adorable little face! (Actually, at the time I thought she was so ugly she was cute.) We walked in and out of rooms and all I could think of was the 'ugly' kitty from the first room...I decided I couldn't leave without her that day. We went to the desk and I told them I needed to adopt 'Candi' before anyone else could.

We, of course, weren't prepared for a new family member since we had said we were just going to see the kitties. I started to fill out the paperwork to adopt our new little girl and Bob had to take the car and run home to get a carrier to safely get her home in.

Once we got her home, we lost her for two days...she ran under the couch and didn't come out. Gidge kept trying to check her out, but with both of them being scared they were checking each other out from a distance. Ginger eventually got more comfortable, started to explore the house and she has been a spoiled member of the family since!

For a pretty kitty....hansome one too!!!

For those of us who do not have children, our pets become our kids.
Bob and I totally fit that!
Mostly me, because I'm just a cooky cat lady these days.
(with only 1 cat though, instead of 30.)
I say that because I spoil our cat like she's a child...
  • She has more toys than China has rice! Some of which are store bought, but most are homemade though.
  • She is now the proud owner of a motorized water dish.
  • She eats only all natural holistic food.
  • She has at least 3 or 4 blankets to call her own, which are scattered around the house on her favorite spots to lay on.
  • She owns her own personal small tent! (Thank you Vic! She loves it! It stores her toys beautifully when she's not using them.)
  • She has a cat tree that extends 8 ft tall

(Pretty sure there's more that I can't think of right now...I'm sure Vic will remind me of other ways this lil girl is spoiled!)

AND thanks to this wonderful lady, Gidge is always sporting an amazing cute collar!

Kristen's Cat Beds is the perfect place to find an amazing collar for your favorite feline friend! She has so many adorable styles and AMAZING prices! The quality is great too! She also has kitten collars, cat beds, blankets, toys, charms for collars and purses for cat lovers! You should go check her site out and acceessorize your pretty kitty or hansome cat!

(no, she did not ask me to post this or pay me to...I just fully believe she has a great thing going on!)

The first one I purchased from her was this tie dye collar...

I took the bell off and replaced it with a peace sign charm from a necklace. She gets so many compliments on it!

This is what she's sporting right now until St. Patrick's Day is over, we just received it the other day...

I searched Walmart, Target and Michael's the other day looking for a four-leaf clover to replace this bell with...no such luck! How strange is that?! I've got a few other places to hit up next time I'm out and about, hopefully I can find one for her! Right now, she's accessorized with a 'G' charm on this collar.

I already know that I will be purchasing the cute carrot collar she has for Gidgey for Easter! : )

At 7:27 this morning we picked Gidgey up!!!
It's amazing how much we missed her
even though she was only gone for 23 1/2 hours!
The apartment was just way too calm and quiet without her!

Here she is taking a quick cat nap right after we got her home. Don't mind the camera phone picture!

One would think she would have been calm and sleepy all day today...Nope, not our gidgey! She's trying to climb her cat tree, play with the dog, play with her toys and run around the house.

Luckily, she's napping again.
We don't have to worry about stitches being ripped out at the moment.

At 7:52 this morning, we dropped Gidgey off to be spayed : (
Poor lil girl...and poor people who have to try to touch her!
One of the vet techs (or whatever they're called)
put a finger up to her carrier and said hi.
What did our sweet lil girl do???
She hissed, of course!
We had just explained to the check in lady how Gidge isn't very good around strangers.
So, this didn't shock them too much when she hissed;
but as a kitty parent, it's not a good feeling to witness her unfriendliness.

(here she's smashing her face against her carrier trying to escape)

Good luck Gidgey (and everyone there)!

See you tomorrow!
