tiny apartment living @ its best

Okay, we rent a small two bedroom apartment and the living room sucks, there are doors everywhere! It doesn't leave many options for rearranging...ever.
I still love my apartment though! ...Well, mostly.

Anyway, to those of you who are blessed and live in wonderful houses with all kinds of space this just looks like a plan old, dark and dingy doorway. Buuuuut, to those of us who do not, this is the perfect 37" x 9" x 7'

...craft storage area!

A bin (mostly for height, I can't really easily access it), a few sets of drawers, a tray (yep, the project I talked about here, that I never finished), a bulletin board, a small flower pot (just emptied because the plant died) and a few random paintings I made, but never had anywhere to hang.

Align Right

In addition, a bag I purchased and never used and a few organizers from my luggage. Because lets face it...I can't afford to go anywhere, so you know they'll never be used!

All that = the best poor (wo)man's craft "room" ever! I LOOOOVE it! It makes doing things so much easier! My craft table is about 5 feet from here in the living room, so it's perfect!

P.S....I decided, after my struggle with the modge podge and the tray didn't work out, to just double stick tape some paper onto the bottom for now. Haha.

P.P.S....I would also like to add, that this is not a fire hazard or anything! The doorway is wide open so exiting is possible. The bins/drawers only overhang on the door a few inches and are not in the way at all : )

I have always wished, wished, wished I were better with words.

For some people, writing and speaking flows so beautifully.
For me, it's more like I'm skiing down a black diamond hill covered with moguls and I only have one ski.
(as I'm sure you have noticed while reading my blog)
I know that if I were to write, read, correct, read, correct, read
and then finally hit post, things would a little sound better.
I am just not that patient.
I am a I want it now(!) kind of person.

We all have our talents and writing is definitely not mine...funny
that I decided to start a blog then right?!
Yea, I think it's a little strange too.

Check out my friend Vic, I've always been mega jealous of her patience to write, read, correct, etc. and have amazing ways to say things!

the orange room.

I'm in the process of getting my online
shop up and running! : )

It is called the orange room.

So far it's just my totes, but hopefully soon
I will have more to add to it!
Please forgive the simplicity of it for
now...like I said, I'm still in the
process of getting it set up.

Thanks for taking a peek!

*updated* When life gives you lemons...

do the Master Cleanse and make a funky lemonade mixture.

I took a few minutes tonight to juice the lemons that I will be needing for my cleanse this week. Not like I won't have time to do it tomorrow, but it's nice to have things done ahead of time...and I'm usually only good at that if it's something simple! Haha.

This is my *updated* menu for the next 14 days...

Monday- 6 glasses of lemonade mixture and water
Tuesday- 6 glasses of lemonade mixture and water
Wednesday- 6 glasses of lemonade mixture and water
Thursday- ALC from The Grill : ) haha
Friday- Whatever I want
Saturday-Whatever I want
Sunday- Whatever I want
Monday- Whatever I want
Tuesday- Whatever I want
Wednesday- Whatever I want
Thursday- Whatever I want
Friday- Whatever I want
Saturday- Whatever I want
Sunday- Whatever I want! : )

*update*
So I caved...on the 5th day of no food, I caved. I'm disappointed. Wasn't hungry, just wanted it. Owell, guess it's not meant to be!

The lemonade mixture is 2 tbsp lemon juice, 1 tbsp real maple syrup and 1/10 tsp cayenne in 10 oz spring water.

I can feel how jealous you are! It's okay, you can admit it.
I won't tell : )

As I layed in bed last night trying to fall asleep, all I could think of was Haiti.

*photo from www.usatoday.com

There I was...

Nice soft bed.
Comfy pjs.
Roof over my head.
Midnight snack available, if I wanted.
Glass of water next to me.
I knew my friends and family were safe.

I am so blessed.

Anything I could have to complain about is nothing compared to what those in Haiti are going through. I can't even imagine what it would be like to go through their suffering. Not knowing if your loved ones are safe, no food, no water, no place to call home anymore...

*photo from www.dailymail.co.uk

I wish I had some sort of skills that could help them, but I'm afraid I don't. All I can do is try to get the word out there on how to help.

Here are a few different websites where you can donate to help Haiti:

World Vision

Compassion

Mercy Corps

Habitat for Humanity

Unicef

Red Cross

Please, take the time to check them out and donate!

TODAY IS THE DAY!

Well, the day for the beginning of the process...

Today is salads only.
Tomorrow is juice and broth only.
Sunday is orange juice only.

Then, Monday is the official start of the Master Cleanse.
Starting Monday lemonade mixture here I come!

Last night we took a friend out for a belated birthday dinner
at my favorite Mexican place in our hometown.
Perfect timing!
This black bean burrito was the best
"last" real meal I could have asked for!

Yuuuummmy!

Who knew something as simple as cleaning the aquarium...

could be so exciting to watch?!

Then again, we're not all kitties are we?

last little treat

Master Cleanse count down...2 days!

I made myself a treat tonight for my last day before the cleanse.
My sister-in-law (not technically, but it works!)
Amanda gave me a jar of cookie mix for Christmas : )
Tonight seemed to be the perfect time to use it!

Homemade Deliciousness

Last night while I was editing photos and blogging...Bob was creating a tasty beverage.

Mead!

(This is the honey and water heating up to temp)

I am so excited for it to be ready to drink : )

We went to the store today and bought white grape juice to add to the mead to give it more body. We also picked up stuff to make a rhubarb wine and another batch of beer...we've got some brewing in the basement already!

Simple artwork

Bob's mom gave us some vinyl words a while ago.
I was feeling really down one night a few weeks ago and
was looking for a project to do to make me feel better.
I stumbled on the words and some fabric.
I rummaged through the closet and found a frame
that had been sitting there empty for years.
I grabbed scissors and a glue gun and this is the result : )

Ornament Coasters

As I mentioned before, Vic and I went Christmas clearancing a little while ago. I picked up four matching ornaments.
The minute I saw them I knew what to do with them, coasters! For $0.19 each, how could I not try it?!

Four ornaments and a little felt...

Cut circles out of the felt.

Glue the felt onto the back of the ornaments.

BAM! Easy peasy coasters!

They're actually a magenta and teal...the magenta was a little camera shy I guess.

Recycled magazine bows!

Ever wonder what to do with all your old magazines?

How about using them for decorating a present?!

I've used the pages for wrapping presents before and now I can use them for the bow too.
I am so excited to try these!

Check out Jessica over at How About Orange... to learn how!

Old picture re-do

I had a set of pictures that went with the old decor of our living room, but not the new...I wanted to breath some new life into them to match the new look : )

I had purchased yards and yards of fabric that was originally going to go on the walls. It never made it up, of course. Then I was going to make curtains with it...that didn't happen either, haha.

So...new living room decor it is!

I just quickly cut a piece of fabric off that was large enough to cover the picture.

Then, lined it up on the canvas where I wanted it, and glued my heart out! Only on the back so no lumps and bumps would be seen.

Trim off the excess fabric in the back!
(yea, it doesn't looks so pretty, but no one will see it)

And voila two matching pieces!

Now, I just need to find the perfect place for them.
I thought I had a spot in mind, but tried it and didn't like it.

So pretty...

I was organizing the photos on our laptop and I came across this and just needed to share it : )

Beautiful

My 'little' cousin while she was getting ready for her prom her junior (?) year of high school...I was trying to be all photographer like and made her pose by the mirror.

*Word of the Day*

cosmeticize • \kahz-MET-uh-syze\ • verb

: to make (something unpleasant or ugly) superficially attractive

Example Sentence:

The authors of the legislation have cosmeticized it with tax breaks and tax cuts.

Did you know?"Cosmeticize" first appeared in print in the early 19th century as a descendant of the noun "cosmetic." Originally, its use was often literal, with the meaning "to apply a cosmetic to," but today it is often used figuratively. "Cosmeticize" does occasionally draw criticism; usage commentators are sometimes irritated by verbs coined using "-ize" as they can sound like silly, nonce words. "Cosmeticize" is fairly well-established, however, in contrast with the two other, rarer verbs that have been derived from "cosmetic": "cosmetize," which often turns up in the literal sense ("cosmetize the face"), and "cosmetic," which can be literal or figurative ("cosmeticked with bright rouge"; "embellished and cosmeticked").

Fake Bake!

If you're like me and never bake, but want your home to smell delicious I highly recommend this!

I got this Scentsy warmer from Bob's mom for Christmas and I LOVE it! It warms the wax up with a light bulb instead of a candle...less risk of fire! : ) There are many different styles of warmers and even ones you can decorate yourself!

They have so many different kinds of scent it's amazing! From their Bakery collection to their Romance collection to their Scentsy Man collection...yum!

The front two are actual Scentsy products, but shhh....don't tell I actually found a few at Walmart today that are the same idea. So, I thought I'd check them out! I thought it was kind of funny that on the front of the package they even say "Not a Scentsy product"

And in case you can't tell from all my hyperlinks...you should go here or here to purchase them ; )

The Little Things

It amazes me how the simple things in life can make me
oh so happy these days!

Vic and I went Christmas Clearancing the other day and
I found these amazing jars and bottles!
Aren't they great?!

They were originally filled with cookie mixes
and hot cocoas...I LOVE THEM!
I wanted to go back and buy more, but I controlled myself!
We don't need that many and Bob would
probably think I was crazy if I had gotten more.

Now I just need to make cookies sometime
since I have three packets of mix!
I'll have to invite friends over for
cocoa and cookies sometime soon : )

It starts on...

...this day!

This is the day I have marked as the day I'm going to start the Master Cleanse again. I WILL finish this time : )

I have started collecting motivational quotes to write one on our white board everyday to help me keep on track this time!

I'm excited!

Happy New Year!

I'm a little late, but...

Bob and I spent our new year's eve with our friends Melinda and Dave. It was great times! We played this game all night!

It was SO MUCH FUN!
